New Delhi : Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has clarified that they did not sign any bond in connection with the protest, but signed only a bond intended to ensure the maintenance of peace.

The clarification comes after CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released from preventive detention by an Executive Magistrate court in Delhi on Sunday, subject to a condition that they maintain peace and good behaviour for one year.

The three were detained by Delhi Police on Saturday ahead of their planned protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

According to Delhi Police, the three were arrested under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and produced before the Special Executive Magistrate in Delhi Cantonment on Sunday. A surety bond of ₹50,000 was furnished for each of them to ensure peace and good behaviour for one year.

The detentions came amid protests by opposition parties and other groups over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process and demands for accountability from the Election Commission of India.
