Archana Puran Singh Says Bollywood Has Forgotten Her: ‘It’s a Strange Industry’
Veteran actress Archana Puran Singh has candidly spoken about her long struggle to find meaningful roles in Bollywood, revealing that she has not received the kind of film offers she hoped for in nearly a decade.
Known for her memorable performances in films and as a popular judge on The Kapil Sharma Show, Archana said that while she continues to receive brand endorsement opportunities and enjoys immense popularity through her family YouTube vlogs, quality acting roles have remained elusive.
Speaking in an interview with News18, the actress said she wants filmmakers to know that she is still eager to act. “I do get brand endorsement offers, but acting offers are still not coming my way. It’s not like there was a queue of film offers after Toaster. This industry is very strange,” she said.Archana revealed that she recently turned down a film because she was not satisfied with the role. “I’m waiting for meaningful characters. I want to work, but the right opportunities are simply not coming,” she added.
The actress also reflected on her 2012 film Bol Bachchan, directed by Rohit Shetty, saying many industry experts had predicted that the film’s success would bring her numerous offers. However, that never happened.
“I was told that after Bol Bachchan, film offers would pour in. I even joked that I would call them when the first offer arrived. It’s been 10 years, and I still haven’t had a reason to make that call,” she said.
Archana believes one possible reason is that many filmmakers assume she is too busy with television commitments to take up films. Despite her continued popularity on the small screen, she says she remains passionate about acting and hopes to return to the big screen with roles that truly challenge and inspire her.
