New Delhi : The national capital witnessed another night of high drama as Jantar Mantar turned into a flashpoint on Wednesday, with violent clashes breaking out between protesters and Delhi Police.

The confrontation escalated rapidly as protesters allegedly pelted stones, snatched batons from police personnel, and attempted to attack security forces, prompting police to respond with tear gas shells and a mild lathi-charge to bring the situation under control.

According to Delhi Police, five personnel were injured, including two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), an Inspector, a Head Constable, and a Constable, during the violence near Sansad Marg.

The unrest came just hours after another ACP-rank officer was injured in a separate stone-pelting incident near Tolstoy Marg, highlighting the growing intensity of the protests.Visuals from the protest site captured chaotic scenes, with stones being hurled at security personnel as police struggled to disperse the crowd.

Authorities said some protesters turned aggressive during the confrontation, forcing law enforcement to step up crowd-control measures.As tensions mounted in the heart of the capital, the administration suspended mobile internet services across parts of Central Delhi as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of misinformation and prevent further escalation.

The violence has once again raised concerns over law and order in the national capital, with security remaining on high alert in and around the Parliament Street area.
