Kupwara, J & K : An encounter broke out between security forces and suspected terrorists in the Jumgund area of the Keran sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday morning after troops detected suspicious movement near the Line of Control (LoC), officials said.
According to officials, alert troops challenged and intercepted the suspected terrorists after noticing their movement in the area, triggering an exchange of fire.
Officials said it was not immediately clear whether the movement was linked to an infiltration attempt from across the LoC.
The security operation was underway at the time of filing this report, while further details regarding the engagement and the presence of suspected terrorists were awaited.
