New Delhi : The NSUI has expressed its displeasure over the prominence given to Neha Bora national president of the leftist student organization AISA at events and on platforms associated with Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. It is reported that following Rahul Gandhi’s march to the Supreme Court, the NSUI renamed its WhatsApp group to ‘We The Chhotu’. However, the group’s name was later restored after a meeting with Rahul Gandhi.
On October 12, as leaders of the INDIA bloc marched toward the Supreme Court to raise the issue of alleged vote theft, Neha Bora and Priyanka Gandhi were positioned at the very front. Notably, Rahul Gandhi appeared to accord them a disproportionate level of importance.
Neha Bora was seen aboard the bus carrying senior leaders, and later appeared on a truck where Rahul Gandhi stood alongside a select few individuals amidst a large crowd of protesters. NSUI leaders, including their national president Vinod Jakhar, were also present at the scene.
According to media reports, long-standing NSUI members felt they were not valued as highly as Neha Bora during the Congress-led protest. They were aggrieved that while they had been working hard to organize the party’s demonstration, the platform was effectively handed over to a leader from a different organization.
Meanwhile, despite the significant discontent within the NSUI, Neha Bora was spotted at Rahul Gandhi’s residence the following day. Following attempts to organize marches to the Election Commission, Jantar Mantar, Rajghat, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and the Supreme Court, Rahul Gandhi invited all MPs from the INDIA alliance, along with several social activists and student leaders including Neha Bora to his residence for tea on the evening of October 13, where he thanked them.
The Congress had also extended an invitation to Abhijit Dipke, founder of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP); however, he could not attend as he was out of Delhi. A press conference was held after the tea gathering, during which Bora was also given an opportunity to speak.
