Teen’s Body Found in Field Days Later Four Suspects Held in Delhi
New Delhi: A shocking and deeply disturbing crime has emerged from Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and brutally murdered, with police now holding four suspects, including a 19-year-old man and three juveniles. According to police and media reports, the teenager had gone to meet a 17-year-old boy she knew, but the meeting allegedly turned into a horrific assault. Investigators say the girl was sexually assaulted and, after she allegedly threatened to report the matter to police, the boy is suspected of calling three others, who allegedly joined him in the assault.
Police suspect the group later took the girl to an open field near Kushak Road, where she was allegedly stabbed multiple times before her body was abandoned and concealed. Her decomposed body was discovered on September 13, prompting a major investigation. Police examined more than 50 CCTV cameras and followed the movements of a suspicious tempo seen near the area, eventually tracing the vehicle and identifying the four suspects. The accused have been identified as 19-year-old Shivam Ganesh and three minors aged 16 and 17, all of whom are now in custody, according to police.
Investigators have recovered two knives allegedly used in the crime along with clothes reportedly worn by the suspects, while forensic examination is underway. The post-mortem reportedly found evidence consistent with sexual assault and multiple serious injuries, including stab wounds. Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act, and are continuing to establish the exact sequence of events and the individual role of each suspect.
