HDFC Bank to provide additional ₹1 crore insurance assistance to martyr’s family
Chandigarh, Punjab : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday paid tribute to Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Harjeet Singh, who attained martyrdom while performing his duty in Amritsar district.
In a post on X, Mann saluted the courage and dedication of the police officer and said Singh’s sacrifice would always be remembered.
The Punjab Government stands like a rock with the martyr’s family in this hour of grief,” Mann said, announcing that the state government would provide ₹1 crore as ex-gratia assistance to the bereaved family.
In addition, HDFC Bank will provide ₹1 crore under insurance cover to the family, taking the announced financial assistance to ₹2 crore.
Mann said the government remained committed to extending all possible support to the families of personnel who lose their lives while serving the state.
The Chief Minister said the sacrifice of ASI Harjeet Singh would continue to inspire others to discharge their duties with courage, dedication and honesty.
The development comes amid heightened focus on security and law and order operations in Punjab.
